Academic Heavy Metal Cruise 2017 vol. 9
The Academic Heavy Metal Cruise sails again and the destination is Tallinn. What have here is a grand opportunity to meet a other more or less academic headbangers from all around Finland, experience a few artists and purchase more affordable beverages from the Southern markets for the upcoming winter. TYRMY organizes a bus ride to the port, so the trip is as easy as a very easy endeavor. The ship sets sail on the 2nd of November.
Registration ends on 2.10.2017., so register at least on the upcoming weekend, though preferably now so it won’t slip your mind. Do note that the TYRMY’s bus ride has a separate registration form, so you need to fill two forms if you wish to utilize both services. Of course you may get onboard by your own means or just take advantage of just the bus ride East.
Below also the official message from HYRMY and MC-Mökä:
Ahoy!
The heaviest cruise of the autumn is here again, as the Academic Heavy Cruise sails in the Baltic Sea on M/S Silja Europa in November 2017. Since it’s already the 9th (!) time the cruise is organized, the ship will be loaded with awesomeness. Here you will find some essential info on the cruise, but of course additional info and the sign up form will be released later. The sign up is open from 28 August to 2 October.
TIME & PLACE
The ship we’ll head to is M/S Silja Europa and the cruise takes place between Thu 2 November and Fri 3 November 2017.
The cruise leaves from Helsinki (Länsiterminaali) on Thursday at 18.30 (you need to be at the harbor at 17.30), sails to Tallinn and we’ll arrive back in Helsinki on Friday at 16.00. Hopefully. When in Tallinn, you’ll have some time to visit the city.
PRICE
The price is 23€/person, including a cabin spot (four person cabins), and the gig ticket plus Friday’s program. NOTE: the breakfast is voluntary this year. Or as our main organizer Martin put it: “If you want to die of starvation, there’s a chance for it this year.”
If you’re not into starvation, you can buy some additional meals:
33 € – dinner buffet on Thursday
10,50 € – breakfast on Friday
25 € – lunch on Friday
GIGS AND OTHER ENTERTAINMENT
Unlike traditionally, this year we have three bands instead of two! These three bands are called Vetten Äpärät, ApeX and The Backstabbers and all of them are the rising stars of the Finnish metal scene. This is your chance to see them before the others!
Apex plays some nice old school thrash à la Anthrax and Stone, whereas The Backstabbers offers us some rough rock and roll tunes taking influences from Motörhead and AC/DC. Vetten Äpärät takes you to a journey on dark forests and deep waters of Finnish folk metal, so if you like for instance Finntroll, you’ll dig this band.
Check them and like them in advance:
